Calling All Social Entrepreneurs...
Into their 7th year, the UniTED Social Impact Awards are bigger than ever – celebrating the best young social entrepreneurs around Uganda!
Deadline: Sunday, 26th November
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking early-stage social ventures (whether still ideas or operational organisations) with potential to transform communities in Uganda and beyond.
Entries will be judged upon: the innovativeness of the venture; the potential impact of the venture; the ability of the venture to be sustainable; the current progress of the venture.
The two main categories will be for best male and female social entrepreneurs. Winners will receive an expenses-paid trip to the University of Oxford for a week to participate in workshops tailored to their social ventures.
The 40 best entries will be offered to join UniTED’s tutorial program for 2018, providing support worth over UGX 2,000,000 to make your venture more impactful and financially sustainable.
All entrants must:
- Have a social venture (or idea), which we define as an organisation where all profits made are reinvested in fulfilling the mission, except any repayment of investments.
- Be attached to an institution of higher education; or have graduated from an institution since 2013.
All entrants will be informed if they are among the final 10 shortlisted ventures by the 1st December.
On Tuesday, 5th December we will hold an awards ceremony to coincide with International Volunteering Day. All shortlisted ventures will give 4 minute presentations, and the 2 main winners will be announced.
UniTED will continue to support the 40 best applications throughout 2018.
The awards are run by UniTED, an NGO (No.11853) with the mission to empower students & graduates as social entrepreneurs and global citizens. Since 2012, 22 Ugandan students have been hosted at New College, Oxford University as part of this initiative.
